Last week on Instagram I mentioned a secret project that I’ve been working on for a number of weeks. And I can now officially reveal what that is… Drumroll please… I have updated my e-book, which outlines all of the key steps you need to take to become a successful – and profitable – blogger.
I regularly hear from readers seeking blogging advice (the most common line of questioning: how to make money from blogging); so in 2016 I published the 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging guidebook.
But the online world moves quickly, as you all know. And a lot has changed in the past three years. So I thought it was time to update and redesign the e-book, so it can continue to serve content creators in their blogging journeys.
I’m SO proud of this updated edition (visually it’s 10x more appealing than the original publication). And I’ve popped more details below, along with the purchase link, in case you’re interested in ordering a copy…
Frequently Asked/Anticipated Questions
Q. What is covered in this e-book?
The e-book is broken down into 10 steps. Chapter one focuses on finding your unique selling point and writing your blog’s manifesto. Chapter two outlines the importance of setting clear content categories, and also covers the differences between Blogger, WordPress and Squarespace. Chapter three focuses on your blog’s visual identity. Chapter four is all about content: how to write engaging blog posts and create an editorial calendar.
Chapter five is dedicated to SEO (it’s a meaty chapter). Chapter six teaches you how to promote your content effectively across all of the different social media platforms. Chapter seven explains Google Analytics. Chapter eight focuses on the importance of email marketing. Chapter nine outlines how to start making money from your blog and explains what to put in your media kit/rate card. And chapter 10 is packed with helpful resources so you can continue learning.
Q. I already have a blog. Will this book be relevant for me?
A. Yes. I wrote this book to help both newbies and existing bloggers. If you’ve been blogging for a while, but have hit a few stumbling blocks and watched your traffic plateau, this guidebook will get you back on the right track, correct any bad habits and help you put effective new strategies into place.
Q. How do I order 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging?
A. To purchase a copy of the e-book click through to this link. You’ll then be directed to a secure transaction page. The book costs £15.99 and all payments are taken via PayPal. Note that PayPal charges a fee for its payment transaction. You can calculate its fee using a paypal fee calculator.
Please note: The link to download the e-book will be sent to the email address you enter at purchase. An email containing the download link should appear in your inbox as soon as you’ve placed your order. If you don’t receive an email please check that it hasn’t gone into your “spam” or “promotions” inbox by mistake. And if not, drop me an email and I’ll send you the link manually.
Q. Can I download your e-book on Amazon Kindle?
A. Unfortunately not (although I might look into this at some stage later in the year if demand is high enough). At the moment the e-book is formatted as a colour PDF, which you can download and view on any desktop, iPad, tablet, iPhone or smartphone.
Q. How does this version of the e-book differ from the 2016 edition?
A. The structure of the e-book has remained same. However, the social media chapter has been completely re-worked (and it’s now a LOT longer), because so much has changed in the last two-and-a-half years. I’ve also updated other chapters in the book, where the information has changed or technology has developed since 2016.
Visually the book has been completely re-designed. It’s now much easier to read and navigate. And I have a swanky new cover, photographed by the wonderful Jennifer Darr.
For anyone who purchased the 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Blogging, I am thinking about potentially releasing the updated social media chapter as a separate, mini e-book. So do let me know if that’s something you would be interested in.
